After further investigation with our client, I have a much deeper understanding of what is being asked of my group and I as we further develop our advertisements for LCM and MFA. At first, I was not sure what exactly our end goal was because I felt like LCM had already a great representation of their branding, company, and goals. I think I now fully understand the specific areas in which I can help make LCM appear accessible for all schools in Louisiana through the advertising process. Our development of the brochure and flyer has changed drastically, especially because we were trying to include too much information instead of sticking to the overall "aesthetic" of LCM. I believe that graphic design has space to improve a lot of non-profits in New Orleans because the process is fluid and rooted in chance, you cannot go out with an idea without exploring and understanding the context of the situation and company at hand. Graphic design is a really great tool to experiment with what works and what doesn't for a specific organization and/or cause, and through this process, design provides a wide array of ideas that could potentially work. Non-profits do however face challenges with accessing design services because they are not always helpful. It really depends on the area of focus and what needs to be developed. Non-profits are also sitting on the fact they are not paying these designers, which poses another problem to the designer and the company itself.
